Dorian Wood returns to the amazing MorYork Gallery for an evening of dark, soulful music, with tributes to influential artists Mahalia Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Malvina Reynolds and Chavela Vargas. Dorian will be accompanied by guitarist Michael Corwin, bassist Sebastian Steinberg, and special surprise guests! Also performing: avant-guitarist/visionary Ben von Wildenhaus.

“An artist that is both transcendental and unclassifiable” (Rolling Stone Spain),

DORIAN WOOD has brought his emotionally-charged performances to concert halls, museums, music venues and performance spaces around the world, with a voice that channels the skill and ferocity of such auteurs as Scott Walker and Nina Simone. His most recent studio album, Rattle Rattle, is an epic collection of original doomsday-themed songs that form one strong, continuous piece, incorporating over 60 musicians. As a performance artist, his work has been presented at such institutions as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, REDCAT and Stockholm Fringe Fest. He also worked with Marina Abramovic in her 2011 piece “An Artist’s Life Manifesto” at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. In 2013, Wood directed the controversial video for his single “La Cara Infinita”, which featured a guest appearance by actor Margaret Cho. He is currently working on a new studio album.

“BEN VON WILDENHAUS strays far from his Pacific Northwest garage-rock roots, floating somewhere in the creepy soundtrack ether, distilling bits of acoustic and electric guitar into swaths of slow, mesmerizing weirdness. Occasionally, there are vocals, but they’re mostly just scraps of sound. Sine waves, cool tones, and dissonant drones make up ?entire tracks, shimmering and vibrating. Von Wildenhaus stops shy of avant-garde wonkery, though, working his influences — modern primitive folk, cassette hiss, Angelo Badalamenti’s Twin Peaks score — into a tight confluence of meditative anti-shredding.” – SPIN
